Meet Our Pastors
A welcome message from CCDC’s devoted and energetic Co-Pastors, Mandy Lape-Freeberg and Andi Lloyd. You can also read a quick biography of Mandy’s and Andi’s career and tenure The Church of Christ at Dartmouth.
I am delighted to be a part of this community. I began as the Senior Pastor on October 1, 2017, a month that celebrated the 500th anniversary of the beginning of Protestantism. The timing was fortuitous, as it afforded me an opportunity to focus upon some essential basics of our tradition. I love theology. Having conversations about God, Christ, faith, church, worship, service, mercy, and grace thrill me. Although I love to read, and church history is a particularly favorite topic, I find that the best discussions about faith occur in our day to day lives, often wrapped around a particular life dilemma. Rather than understanding theology as an ancient topic concerned with esoteric ideas, I understand theology as the foundation upon which we build our lives. My goal is to help make the richness and graciousness of theology more recognizable as we live out our lives together. I hope to organically and naturally equip people with the theological tools to interpret and navigate their lives with more joy and insight.

The Rev. Dr. Andi Lloyd came to ministry by way of ecology. She was professor of biology at Middlebury College from 1996 until 2020, and served as the Dean of the Faculty from 2012 until June, 2019. In her work as an ecologist, she studied the effects of climate change on forests in Alaska and Siberia and taught classes on plant ecology, evolution, and climate change. Andi left Middlebury College in June of 2019 to pursue a call to ordained ministry in the United Church of Christ. She graduated from Andover Newton Seminary at Yale Divinity School in 2022 and was ordained to ministry on June 5, 2022.
In addition to her scientific writing, Andi is co-author of the book Letters from the Ecotone: Ecology, Theology, and Climate Change, the writing of which helped her to realize that ecology and pastoral ministry —two vocations that seem so different on the surface — were simply two different stretches of the same beautiful path. She continues to find inspiration in the brackish waters where ecology and theology meet.
Andi served as Pastor at the Trinitarian Congregational Parish of Castine, UCC, from July 2022 until September 2025. She accepted a call to The Church of Christ at Dartmouth College in June 2025, and is looking forward with delight to October 19, 2025, when she will begin serving this community. We are delighted to have her join our family!
You can read more about Andi’s work as a scientist on her website. Her sermons — and eventually, she hopes, other writings about ecology and theology —can be found on her Substack, View from the Ecotone.
