The mission of Religious Education at CCDC is to invite people on a life-long faith journey of transformation through:

• Knowing and experiencing God through Jesus Christ
• Claiming and living God’s promises
• Growing and serving as Christian disciples

The fundamental ministry of the church takes place through the intentional support of the entire church community and in the context of a nurturing environment. It is grounded in scripture, informed by Christian tradition, enlivened in experience, and tested by reason. We believe that we are all called to learn and all called to teach. Our response to this call is essential to a vibrant life-changing faith and to discipleship in the world.

All of our childcare providers and anyone who works with children have to complete a background check and we adhere to the CCDC Security and Safe Procedures Policy set forth with guidance from the United Church of Christ.

Nursery Care is available in our growing nursery for children under the age of 5 from 9:50 am to 11:15 am each Sunday. Parents/Guardians are welcome to accompany their infant or toddle in the Nursery Care room. We have a TV to watch the service and a changing station in the accessible bathroom just off Emerson Lobby.

Religious Education for children age from Pre-K to 8th grade, but all are welcome, is available during worship. Following the Children’s Moment during worship, all children in those grades are invited to journey with their teachers to the nursery or classroom. Children learn scripture, play games, make arts and crafts, and build relationships with one another and God. Parents will meet their children in the classrooms after worship, children are not allowed to leave unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. We do ask that parents fill out a registration form for your child(en) if they plan to attend Sunday School. There is a link below for registration.

CCDC Youth Group We welcome youth ages 12 and up from within the CCDC community and beyond to join us for a time of real connection & real conversation. We’ll share a meal, and then talk together, learn together, serve together, and have fun together. Each Christmas season, the Sunday School prepares a Christmas Pageant. All children and youth are welcome to participate. Rehearsals are held throughout December.

• Teens with an interest in and/or aptitude for technology are invited to speak with our Communication Coordinator, Janet Milley about helping out our tech team.
• Teens who enjoy working or playing with younger children may like to become Junior Child Care providers, and help out in our nursery or classroom. See Pastor Mandy on Sunday morning if you’re interested.
• Strong readers of any age are invited to sign-up to serve as liturgist on a Sunday of their choosing. Visit our liturgist sign-up, here, to pick a Sunday, and if you have any questions, speak with Pastor Mandy.
