Your First Visit
Welcome! Here, you’ll find everything you need to know about what to expect during your first visit to The Church of Christ at Dartmouth.
Welcome
To The Church of Christ at
Dartmouth College:
An Open and Affirming Congregation of the United Church of Christ.
We are a multi-generational congregation founded in 1771, by the Reverend Eleazar Wheelock, who founded Dartmouth College less than two years before. Since 1957, we have been a member congregation of the United Church of Christ. We are a Christ-centered and inclusive community. We open our doors wide to all people who long to be a part of a vital congregation. As you get to know CCDC, you will find both a variety of opportunities for our members and friends to connect with one another in meaningful ways, and opportunities to serve God in the community. If you have questions and would like to know more about this church, you are invited to contact Pastor Mandy Lape-Freeberg by email or Pastor Andi Lloyd by email or by phone at 603 ᐧ 643 ᐧ 3150.
I hope that you will find a spiritual home here at CCDC.
Blessings,
Mandy & Andi

Your First Visit
We are looking forward to your first visit! When you join us, you will find a warm, welcoming, and intentionally seeking community of people; some of whom are families, some single, some children, some elders, some people live in Hanover, some are from adjacent towns, and others are from other states. We welcome all people to join us as we seek to love God and serve others. Our favorite way to welcome visitors is in-person, so we can get to know you over a cup of coffee or tea and a sweet or savory treat during coffee hour, following the service. But if, as has become more common over the past couple of years, your first visit is online, please know that we are thrilled to have you join us. If you’d like to learn more about CCDC,
please email Pastor Mandy, or reach out via our online contact form.
What Happens on Sunday Mornings?
We worship in person in our beautiful sanctuary at 10:00 on Sunday morning. Our services are also streamed live on our YouTube channel, “The Church of Christ at Dartmouth.” Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month, The Church of Christ practices open communion, meaning all who have come to worship are welcome to take communion.
Following worship all are invited to the Batchelder Lounge for coffee/tea, snacks and engaging conversation, or if you are new to CCDC, an introduction to your new family! We hope you stay and join us!
Childcare and Sunday school for children from Pre-K to 8th grade, but all are welcome, is available during worship in our nursery and classroom. Following the Children’s Moment during worship, all children in those grades are invited to journey downstairs with their teachers to the nursery or classroom. Parents will meet their children in the classrooms after worship, children are not allowed to leave unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. Everyone who works with children at CCDC has been background checked, and we adhere to the safe sanctuaries policies and procedures set forth with guidance from the United Church of Christ.
What You will See
& Hear
We are a progressive Christian church that grounds itself in the love of Jesus Christ as understood in the scriptures of the Christian faith. We intentionally seek to live out the greatest commandment (Mark 12:28, Matthew 22:34-40, Luke 10:25-29) by choosing to love every minute, every day. Sometimes we are good at choosing love, and sometimes not so much, but as a community we are committed to God and to one another for the whole journey. With this in mind, we won’t tell you what you must believe. We leave plenty of room for believers, questioners and questioning believers. Let’s grow love together!
